AHLMANN AZ 75 AND AZ 95, Completely new swing loaders

The new swing loader Ahlmann Nederland is launching on the market, the AZ 95 model, is a worthy successor to the highly popular AZ 85t. This brand new addition to Ahlmann’s programme is a fast, powerful machine with a contemporary design. Ahlmann has also added the AZ 75, which is slightly lighter in terms of engine power and equipment, to its range. Its design continues along the lines seen earlier in the AX and the AF front loaders introduced at Bauma 2010.  

The newcomer’s most striking feature is its unusual monoboom. It stands out not only because of its shape, but also because of the 'booster' effect generated by locating the parallel cylinder in line with the lifting cylinder. This booster technology has helped raise the lifting capacity of the Ahlmann AZ 95 swing loader by 50%. Its breakout force is approx. 20% higher than its predecessor AZ 85t and its thrust force nearly 10% higher. The booster cylinder assists with lifting, among other things, when required. This booster support has raised the lifting capacity of the AZ 95 to 7,500 daN, which is almost twice that of the AZ 85t. The payload with pallet forks – with the boom swivelled to 90° – is almost 3 ton. The lifting cylinder and both tilting cylinders are fully integrated in the slender monoboom. The cylinders and the hydraulic hoses and lines are tucked away and well protected within the structure of the boom, which consists partly of cast work. Furthermore, measuring from the bucket pivot pin, the new monoboom has a 12 cm greater dump height, which makes loading dumper trucks and feed mixing vehicles even easier.  

The new AZ 75 and AZ 95 have been taken in hand on practically all fronts and are, therefore, completely new. From swivel frame to bonnet and from cabin to chassis. In the 6.2-ton AZ 75, Ahlmann has opted for a 48-kW (65 hp) Cummins B3.3 diesel engine. The 6.8-ton AZ 95 has been equipped with a powerful 55-kW (75 hp) Cummins B3.3T turbo diesel engine. The new engines are pleasantly quiet during operation.  

As a result of the slender boom, visibility has been improved and the working area between the tyres has been increased. Even when wider tyres are mounted on the loader, the machine is nice and narrow because they fit largely under the vehicle rather than projecting outside it.  

The new cabins are much more comfortable for the driver. It is easy to get in and out, everything is in the right place in the cabin, the steering wheel and seat are simple to adjust and the high, wide windscreen and roof window enable the driver to see well. The driver always has a good view of the bucket and the traffic in the vicinity. Both doors are equipped with a sliding window which can also be left slightly open. 

The development of the new swing loader by manufacturer Mecalac-Ahlmann, under the project name ‘Pegasus’, took around three years. During this development, the Ahlmann technicians received a great deal of input based on practical experience from both dealers and end users.
